ALL OCCASION

Hey there, happy Saturday!  I thought I'd pop in and share a quick card made with Taylored Expressions Stamp of the Month:  Simple Greetings and the April Key Ingredients Kit.  I love how well the stamps match the pattern paper from Park Bench!

This was a super easy card.  The rosette was made out of paper from the kit and was topped off with die cut Nesties.  The vintage white marble brad was colored with Copic BG72 to match the paper while a couple die cut banners complete the card.

Thanks for stopping by!

THANK YOU GIFT SET BOX

Hey there, do you remember that set of thank you cards that I posted for the April Studio Challenge?  Well after I knocked them around my desk for a couple days, I decided they needed a box!  While I was goofing around on Pinterest, I came across this box and was inspired to make my own.  Hers was for vertical cards and I wanted mine to be horizontal, so I played around and came up with a layout.  I used the same Acrylic Block Background technique as the cards and created a panel for the front.  The only difference is that I didn't use a sentiment and a Sparklet was used for a center on one of the flowers.  A bow keeps the box closed.

Here's what it looks like open...there is room for all four cards and envelopes.

And here are a couple of the cards with the closed box...it sure makes a pretty set!

Thanks for stopping by!

TAYLORED EXPRESSIONS APRIL STUDIO CHALLENGE

Hey there, it's time for the Baker's Dozen Studio Challenge (a monthly opportunity for the DT to share what makes our stamping studios hum...each month we're asked a fun, crafty question so we can share our favorite products, tips/tricks, stamping advice and more).

The question for April is:
Mix & Match!  TE stamp sets are designed with plenty of images and sentiments so they are "self-contained" for lots of creativity, but sometimes it's fun to mix and match several different sets for even more possibilities.  Your challenge is to create a project using three or more TE stamp sets.

Easy peasy...I love mixing stamp sets!  This was a super quick and easy project using the Acrylic Block Background technique and silhouette stamps.  Lucky for me, Taylor has a lot of sets that have solid (or silhouette) stamps!  I used the sentiment from Bless Your Nest because I absolutely love the font and who couldn't use a set of thank you cards, am I right!?!  The butterfly and some of the flowers/leaves are from Make it Amazing while the balance of the flowers came from Posh Posies.  The possibilities for mixing and matching the silhouettes are endless!  I wish you could see the subtle shine from the Glimmer Mist!  The layout is SCS CAS217.

Here's the inside...

That does it for me today, stop by the rest of the Baker's Dozen and check out their "mix and match" projects!

SO THOUGHTFUL

Hey there, I've got one more quick card and then I promise I'll be done for the day!  Since I still had the Wildflower Silhouette stamp set from Whipper Snapper Designs on my desk, I decided to ink it up one more time.  I tore two sticky note masks then positioned them on the panel.  Using a Stamp-a-ma-jig, the flowers were stamped with Northern Pine ink.  With the masks still in place, an acrylic block was inked all over with New Sprout and around the edges with Bamboo Leaves.  You can use water at this point, but I went ahead and used Glimmer Mist to give it a nice shine...the inked block was spritzed with the Glimmer Mist then pressed against the card stock panel.  The sticky note masks were removed, and to finish the card, the sentiment was stamped in Northern Pine.  LOVE the look of this technique and it's so flippin' easy!

WITH SYMPATHY

Hey there, I'm back with a quick sympathy card.  I don't do one-layer cards very often...ok, next to never...so I thought I would give it a try.  The stamp set is Wildflower Silhouette by Whipper Snapper Designs.  I stamped the flowers and sentiment on the card base (GKD Pure Luxury) with Memento Tuxedo Black.  I used four large sticky notes (two layers each) and sectioned off where I wanted to airbrush.  I selected five Copic markers then sprayed each creating a gradient background.  I peeled off the top layers of sticky notes then misted Copic Colorless Blender (0) over the image.  The sticky notes were removed and my one-layer card was complete.  Seriously easy!  The blender solution makes it look a little like tear stains, don't you think?

PUDDLE HOPPIN'

Hey there, happy Sunday!  It's kind of an overcast day here on the Oregon coast.  It really looks like it could go either way.  Blue sky in the back yard, rain clouds in the front.  Hamilton has the right idea...he's one prepared little bear!  He is from Whipper Snapper Designs and an absolute BLAST to color!   If you've been to my blog before, you already know how much I *adore* my Sakura Clear Glaze pen.  Oh boy, am I in heaven with this card!  Everything has been glazed...the rain drops, puddle, rain coat, hat, boots, umbrella, his eye and even his nose!  It took a while to do it, but it was all worth it!  Oh, and if you stopped by my blog a couple days ago, you know that I tried a new technique only it didn't work out so much so I colored over it.  Well, I used a different cloth (a softer one) and tried the same technique on Hamilton and I like the effect so much better.  What do you think; does the texture on the bear look more fur-like?

WHAT'S THE BUZZZZZ?

Hey there, I found a really cool challenge blog a couple days ago, Designed to Color.  This month's challenge, Hexagon Fun, is to use a colored image and hexagons.  I'm totally addicted to coloring, so this was easy!  Especially since I've had this Whipper Snapper Designs image sitting on my desk for the last month just begging to see ink.  My layout was inspired by Designed to Color's guest designer, Mary Johnson.  Her skunk card is stinkin' cute!  Yep, I just went there!  *ha*

This actually started out as a 5 1/4" square card, but there was a WHOLE lot of real estate out there not getting used.  It felt out of balance, so I ripped it apart and cut it down to fit an A2 card.  Oh yeah, much better!  The image was stamped twice, once on the main panel and the other on a scrap piece of Neenah card stock.  The bear was colored with Copic markers and then I tried a new-to-me technique.  I'm not sure what it's called...but after the image is colored, you spritz a towel with Copic Colorless Blender (0) and dab it on the colored image.  It's supposed to leave a fur-like texture.  Mine left white splotches...not at all what I was hoping for...sooo I colored over it!  Almost everything is fixable, right?  *grin*  If you look close, you can still see a little of the texture in the lightest areas of the bear.  The bear was fussy cut and because I LOVE my clear glaze pen, the nose and pads on his feet were glazed to give them a subtle shine.  I colored the bee, flower, flower pot and shadow on the main panel, adhered the hexagons, computer generated the sentiment, cut it with a banner die then popped it and the colored bear up over the top of the main panel.  I love how this card turned out!  Oh, and I put Stickles on the little bee's wings for a little sparkle.  I guess that's about it for this one!

TAYLORED EXPRESSIONS APRIL SPOTLIGHTS: TAG STACKLETS 1

Hey there, what an amazing release, huh?  This was one of my favorites releases, for sure!  So many cool stamp sets and dies!!!  The April Release is available for purchase through the Fresh Out of the Oven section of the Taylored Expressions store.

For today's spotlight, I decided to make a Mother's Day tag using the Tag Stacklets 1 die and Hydrangea Bouquet stamp set...I just can't get enough of the bouquets!  They are so stinkin' fun to color!  You definitely can't see it in the picture, but there is a single flower (biggest pink one in the front) that was stamped a second time, colored with Copic markers, fussy cut then popped up on foam.  Simple, but it looks really cool in person!

TAYLORED EXPRESSIONS APRIL RELEASE DAY: HAPPY HEART

Hey there, it's release day here at Taylored Expressions!  That means everything you've seen over the last couple of days is FINALLY available in the Fresh out of the Oven section of the store.  Woohoo!!!

Today's project uses the sooo very awesome set, Happy Heart.  LOVE!  As soon as I saw this sentiment, I knew I wanted to sponge a sun.  I went about it a little bit different than I normally would though.  I actually used a light box.  I started by stamping the sentiment on the backside of a sticky note then positioned it to the back of the Neenah card stock panel (I didn't want to stamp it on the panel because the sponging would pick up black from the sentiment and make it all muddy looking...ask me how I know!  Ha!).  I put it on the light box to figure out where I wanted to put the horizon.  I started by sponging Dandelion ink for the softer yellow then brought in the Cantaloupe to define the edge of the sun and the sun's rays.  After the sponging was complete, a Stamp-a-ma-jig was used to line up the sentiment.  Quick and easy!  *grin*

Here's the inside...another quickly sponged sun to tie back to the front of the card.

TAYLORED EXPRESSIONS APRIL SNEAK PEEK: GRAD CAP DIE & LAVENDER BOUQUET

Hey there, I'm back with more sneak peeks for Taylored Expressions April Release...I'm really excited to share my projects today!  I just LOVE these new stamps and dies!  So without further ado...I have two projects to share.

Here in my neck of the woods, people bleed purple and gold!  You might have already figured that out though.  *grin*  I used several new products for this card/gift bag combo.  To start with, let me introduce you to this cutie pie, Moka Jerome.  Adorable, huh?  He was stamped with Tuxedo Black on Neenah card stock then colored with Copic markers.  The Instant Photo Frames die that was released last month is perfect for this little guy!  Check out that glittery, gold border...it's the larger of the new Ric Rac Border dies.  The sparkly border is just what this card needed!  The background was embossed with the Stars Impression Plate and to tie into the star theme, a couple stars from the Seeing Stars die were popped up.

Here's the inside...more Bazzill paper to match the front, another gold Ric Rac Border and the Poster Graphic #'s was used for the year.

Next up is the gift bag...more specifically, the tag for the bag.  Did you notice the awesome new Tag Stacklets 1 dies?  Awe-some!  I can already tell I'll be using them a lot!  The same Bazzill paper that was used on the card was also used to cut out the tag then Graphic Greetings Graduate was embossed in white.  A second tag was cut from Neenah card stock and embossed with the Stars Impression Plate.  The gold Ric Rac Border and popped up stars match the card.  The Grad Cap die was cut from Neenah then colored with Copic markers.  I had so much fun on this project!
