HYCCT1226 - RUFF DAY?

Hey there, I'm back with my very own challenge for the Hope You Can Cling To card drive through Splitcoaststampers!

Cancer affects almost everyone in one way or another; whether it's you, a family member or a friend.  2012 has been exceptionally tough for my family...we lost both my mother- and father-in-law to cancer in July and September of this year.  It's the continued support of family and friends that helps us get through this difficult time in our lives.

My challenge to you:  make a project to support someone that may be having a "ruff" day.  Your project must have a dog on it.  Although it is not a requirement to include pink, it would be great if you could work it in!

I can't wait to see what you create!  Remember, to be eligible for prizes, you must upload your project to the HYCCT gallery.  Have fun!

HYCCT1201 - TACKLE BREAST CANCER!

Hey there, here's another card for the Hope You Can Cling To card drive through Splitcoaststampers.  This one is for Denise's (aka resqbarbie) challenge, Stand Like a Flamingo.  She wanted us to create a project using one of everything.  I used 1 image, 1 computer generated sentiment (colored with Copics) and 1 die cut arrow.  I had to make that one embellishment count so I covered it with Stickles!  And how about these boys supporting "the girls" by wearing pink?  Sexy...LOL!  The stamp is from Whipper Snapper Designs and is called Champion Heartache.  This is the first time I've stamped it and I would have never guessed in a million years that I would be coloring it pink!  Green and Yellow (Go Ducks!)...but not pink!  I'm glad I did it though, because I LOVE IT!  I've been going through glaze pen withdrawls (haven't used it for a while), so I'm glad to say both of the football players eyes have been glazed.  *grin*  I'm also entering this into the Copic Oz Think Pink challenge.

COUNT MOMENTS...

Hey there, I haven't been able to stamp for a while and I think I've been going through withdrawals.  Ha!  This card is for Bev's (TexasGrammy) "Clearly Hopeful" challenge for the Hope You Can Cling To card drive through Splitcoaststampers.  It's clear to Bev that cancer patients desperately need hope...so that's her challenge...to create a project that encourages hope while offering a clear element.  I saw this technique on Pinterest and couldn't wait to give it a try.  It worked beautifully (it's a shame the acetate butterfly doesn't photograph well)!  The butterfly was die cut from a Sizzix die, stamped with StazOn then chalked with pastels.  So cool!  Rhinestones complete the butterfly's body.

HYCCT1212 REBEL WITH A CAUSE

Hey there, I'm back with another Hope You Can Cling To card for the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center card drive through Splitcoaststampers.  Dina (aka Dini) challenged us to "Start Spreading the News!".  She wanted us to make a card inspired by a show tune (any song...title or lyrics...from any musical or movie)!  YIKES!  I didn't have any idea what I wanted to do.  There were so many great songs from musicals/movies, I just didn't know where I wanted to start.  Then as I was flipping through a catalog, I saw it..."Rebel with a Cause" and it even had a pink ribbon for Breast Cancer Awareness month.  It all clicked from there!  I computer generated the sentiment and used this awesome Mo Manning digi...oh, but what about a musical/movie song?  I've got that covered!  *grin*  OK...my movie is from 1935 and called The Littlest Rebel starring Shirley Temple and the song, well, that's Polly Wolly Doodle.  Do you remember it?  Here's the chorus:

Fare-thee well,
Fare-thee well,
Mister gloom be on your way,
If you think you're gonna worry,
you can stop it in a hurry,
sing Polly-wolly-doodle all the day!

Perfect, right?  But it gets better...Dina told us about the possibility of our HYCCT cards doing double duty through a Pink Challenge sponsored by Copic Oz.  Their challenge is to make a pink project using Copic markers then link to their post and for every project linked, $5 will go to the McGrath Foundation (one of Australia's leading Breast Cancer Foundations).  So there you have it...one card...TWO great causes!!!  It really doesn't get any better than that!

HYCCT1209 GET SOME REST...

Hey there, I don't usually do a lot of funny cards and I never, never, NEVER sew (I admire those that make it look so effortless, but I can't sew!)...so Patricia's (aka PH in VA) You Had Me In Stitches was a real challenge!  You might have already figured out that she wants us to make funny cards that has "stitches" on it whether real or faux.  I found this Art Impressions stamp and knew it was the one.  She's a hoot!  *grin*  As for the stitching...I just did a couple hand stitched X's in the corner.  The nurse was fussy cut out and popped up on foam.  Her uniform was paper pieced then shaded with Copic markers.

Hey there, here is another card for the Splitcoaststampers Hope You Can Cling To card drive.  It's their third annual event and I'm happy to be a part of such a wonderful cause!  This card is for Beate's Rays of Hope challenge where she wanted us to color an image with mostly greys and add a splash of color (symbolizing a ray of hope for someone with cancer).  I chose to work with this adorable Whipper Snapper Designs image called Artic Buddies.  I also used all of Copic's grey families (C's, W's, T's and N's).  Can't say I've ever done that on a card before!

HYCCT1202 TO MY SWEET FRIEND

Hey there, I absolutely LOVED making this cupcake box for the Lee's (aka LuvLee) Hope You Can Cling To challenge, Show Off Your Cupcakes!  My good friend, Michelle, from Memories of Time has an AccuCut (commercial sized die cutting machine) for us to use with all kinds of awesome dies.  I just recently used it for the first time ever...and dang...what in the heck was I waiting for!?!  This project was easy peasy thanks to that machine!  She had dies for the box, the mini cupcake card, the cupcake wrapper and also the little flowers adhered to the acetate.  I used both Sizzix Sizzlits and My Favorite Things dies for the little details (borders, big flower on the lid and the tag).  There for a while I thought I was going to have a stamp-free project...but I came up with something to stamp!  I used the Our Craft Lounge set called Sweet on You and it was perfect!

Here's the pull out for the mini cupcake card...

OH HOPPY DAY!

Hey there, are you ready for a whole month of fun?  Splitcoaststampers is having it's 3rd Annual Hope You Can Cling To card drive to benefit cancer patients and their families at the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.  I'm excited to be one of many hostess' for this amazing event!  Watch for my challenge towards the end of the month!

Now for today's challenge...Lydia wants us to "Show Me What You're Made Of".  Basically, she wants us to make a project that reflects who we are as paper crafters.  For me it was an easy choice.  I'm all about coloring with Copic markers!  I love them and can't get enough of them!  Throw in some layers and a die cut or two and I'm a happy camper!  *grin*  This card uses a Whipper Snapper Designs stamp called Oh Hoppy Day!  He's such a happy little guy!
