SENDING PRAYERS

A couple weeks ago I missed a challenge over at The Lounge so I'm going back and making it up.  Did you know you could do that?  Yep, you have until the end of the month to enter for a chance to win an Our Craft Lounge stamp set of your choice.  This particular challenge (OCL48) was to use OCL stamps and two different ribbons or trims.  Easy enough, huh?  A co-worker asked if I could make a sympathy card for her so I grabbed Garden Thoughts.  I've had the set for a while but haven't used it.  It is a great set that offers both spring and sympathy stamps.  Now that it's sitting on my desk, I might just have to stamp and color the other images before I put it away!

I started by cutting out the rectangle with a Nestie then stamping the image with Memento Tuxedo Black onto Neenah Solar White and coloring it with Copic markers.  The layers are Basic Black, Coordinations and Colorbok.  The ribbon and button were from my stash but the lilac/white twine is from The Twinery.  My order was delayed a couple days but they have excellent customer service and kept me informed the whole way.  I love doing business with companies like that!  I just noticed their new colors have come out so I know what I'll be ordering next!  *wink*

Copic coloring:

SEE YA, CUPID!

Sheesh...it seems like forever since I've blogged...oh, wait, it HAS been forever!  Sorry about the disappearing act!  I've been a busy little bee only I can't show you what I've been working on yet.  *sigh*  Soon...I'll be able to show you soon!  OK, so I don't normally do CAS cards but that's what the challenge is this week over at Our Craft Lounge only this one has a twist of adding a heart(s).  I like how this card turned out...and it was super fast!  This card seriously took no time to make.  I spent more time watching the Glossy Accents dry!  Ha!  This is the first card I've made with the Hang It Up Cupid set from OCL and it has some pretty cute images/sentiments!

I bought some Pure Luxury card stock from Gina K a while ago but have never used it.  I wanted a pack in case I felt the need to make a single layer card.  It's really heavy card stock, perfect for a single layer card and no Copic bleed through!  I stamped directly on the card base then colored it with Copic markers.  Spica pens were used on both the heart/arrow and the word Cupid in the sentiment.  Glossy Accents were used on the knobs and over the Spica colored heart. Sparkly Fluff was glued on Cupid's wings to make it look like feathers (just what this one-layer card needed to give it a little zing!).  Lines by the sentiment were added using a ScorPal.  Easy Peasy!

YOU MAKE ME...HOT!

I wanted to incorporate two challenges into this card...Mojo Monday's sketch (that I flipped on its side) and a color challenge from Our Craft Lounge.  Have you heard?  OCL is shaking things up with the new year!  Instead of a weekly sketch challenge, they are posting a variety of challenges.  If you haven't read about the changes yet, head on over to The Lounge (OCL blog) and check it out!

To start, a Spellbinders oval was cut out of Neenah card stock.  Memento Tuxedo Black was used to stamp the lava lamp and sentiment from OCL's Lava You set and was colored with Copic markers.  The oval was put back into the Nestie and sponged with Crumb Cake around the outside edge then Stickles were applied to the globe part of the lamp.  When it was dry, a stylus was used on the back side of the globe to give it a little rounded poof.  Glossy Accents was applied to the globe over the Stickles.  The word "hot" was stamped with Real Red, cut out and popped up on a Deminsional.  A sticky note was used to mask the Crumb Cake card stock and Crumb Cake ink was sponged on the top section.  A bow was tied with some ribbon from my stash, the oval was popped up on Deminsionals with a Pop Dot in the center of the globe to help give it a little extra pop.  Bazzill brads were fastened in the corner and three felt hearts complete the card.

Copic coloring:

Lava lamp:  E43, E42, E41, E40, W10, W9, W8, W7, W6  Hearts:  R46, R29, R27, R24, R21, R20, R11  Liquid:  R00, R000, R0000  Shadow:  E43, E42, E41, E40

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CAMI!

My friend, Cami, shares her bday with the King of Rock-n-Roll...yep, Elvis Presley!  Happy Birthday, sweet friend!  I made an extra special card for her with one of my favs from Our Craft Lounge called Lil' Pea-Nut.  Pea-Nut is so stinkin' C-U-T-E!  I never get tired of coloring him...or is he a she?  Hmmm...

To make this card, I started by stamping Pea-Nut with Memento Tuxedo Black on Neenah and colored it with Copics then cut it out with a Spellbinders die.  After it was colored, Blush Blossom and Pretty In Pink were sponged in the sky (Cami LOVES pink!)  The balloons and party hat were stamped on a separate piece of Neenah, colored then cut out. A black Copic marker was used to quickly outline the cut images to give them a nice, crisp look (none of those white lines showing here...at least I don't think there are.  Ha!).  I cut two holes in Pea-Nut's nose (oops...I mean trunk) for the embroidery thread to go in and out of then I separated the threads and glued two strands to the backsided of each of the balloons.  A Cuttlebug embossing folder was used to get the texture in the background then it was sponged with Pumice Stone Distress Ink.  I love how it looks like elephant skin after it's been sponged!  A mat pack and paper piercer was used to line up the mini Bazzill brads in the corner and Glossy Accents was put on Pea-Nut's eyes, toenails and balloons.  The party hat is popped up on a Dimensional and the balloons on a Pop Dot.

Copic coloring:

Pea-Nut:  R21, R00, W4, W3, W2, W1, W0  Grass:  YG95, YG91, YG17, G20, G12  Party Hat:  R21, R00, YG17, W4, W3, W2, W1, W0  Balloons:  W4, W3, W2, W1, W0, R21, R00, R000, YG95, YG91, YG17, G20, G12  Outline:  110

The sentiment on the card front and inside reads Hope your B-day...doesn't blow!  Of course Pea-Nut had to be on the inside blowing some bubbles!  I'm telling you, Pea-Nut is A-Dorable!!!  I stamped the inside with Memento Tuxedo Black on Neenah and colored it with Copics.  Glossy Accents were used on the bubbles and eyes.  The DP (inside and out) is from the Glitter Cardstock Matstack and SU.  As part of a challenge, I followed the Gina K tutorial on lining an envelope with DP.  Don't you love how the pink and white DP is on the card front, inside and also the envelope?  It just ties everything together.  Love it!

FOOTPRINTS ON OUR HEARTS

Happy New Year, everyone!  I'm excited to get back to stamping after the holidays, unfortunately, my first card of the year is a sympathy card.  My friend's dad recently passed away and I wanted to let him know that I'm thinking of him and his family.  I used a beautifully written quote that I found online from Flavia Weedn.  In yesterday's post, I shared that my dad passed away in 2010, and I miss him dearly...has anyone left any footprints on your heart?

To start, a computer generated quote was printed on Neenah Solar White card stock and set aside.  Next, a butterfly from the CC Designs Butterfly set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black on a scrap of Neenah then colored with Copic markers.  After it was colored, paper snips were used to cut it out.  When it comes to cutting abilities, my skill level is right there with a kindergartner (no offense to kindergartners!).  I'm sure everyone already knows...after you cut out your image, take a black marker and quickly go over the cut edge.  It will give it a nice, crisp finish to your cut image and won't draw attention to your cutting skills (hmmm...maybe I should just speak for myself?  Ha!).

The butterfly was set aside and the background layers were sponged.  All three layers use the same colors in the same order starting in the center and working towards the outside edge:  Barely Banana, So Saffron, Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie (to tone down the yellows).  Next the branch stamp in the Hang in There set from Gina K Designs was used to stamp the leaves on two of the panels.  They were stamped with Pumpkin Pie multiple times for added depth.  The Basic Black and sponged layers were adhered to the card front, a scrap of black ribbon was tied in a knot and the main panel and butterfly were popped up on Dimensionals.

Copic coloring:

Butterfly:  Y19, Y17, Y15, YR16, YR14  Outline:  110  Shadow (inside of card):  C3, C2, C1, C0

I've gotten really lazy about completing the inside of the card unless I'm giving it away.  I did an inside to this one though.  The butterfly is from the same CC Designs set and stamped then colored the same way as the card front.  The Thinking of You sentiment is also from the Butterfly set.

This card includes the following challenges:

Anything Goes Challenge Blog ~ The Letter C (C is for cherished memories)
