CUPPIE LOVE

Hey there, how about a little cuppie love today?  I'm back with another CAS card made with Taylored Expressions Sweet Bliss.  CAS isn't something that I normally embrace, but I've been trying it out a little more and I think it's growing on me!  This simple sketch is Retro Sketch  #51.  Love!  Cuppie was stamped in Tuxedo Black then colored with Copic markers.  Cuppie's cherry has a layer of Stickles and Glossy Accents to make it shine.  A few rhinestones in the corner and it seriously doesn't get any easier than this!

Here's the inside...one of the sentiments from the set was die cut with Banner Stacklets 1.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Hey there, I thought I would pop in and share a quick card I made with the March Taylored Expressions Deluxe Key Ingredients Club (Key Ingredients Club and Stamp of the Month Club combined) kit.  This kit makes it so easy to create beautiful projects without stressing over having to match papers with card stocks, etc.  Taylor takes the guess work out by providing pattern papers, card stock, ribbon and coordinating stamps!  Just can't beat that!

This was a very simple card.  The butterfly was stamped twice and cut out with the coordinating Make it Memorable dies (sold separately).  They were glued together and a rhinestone body completes the card.

Here's the inside...

Hey there, I made this for the last VSN challenges through Splitcoaststampers and have never gotten around to posting it.  Oops!  Kim's (berlycece) Rain or Shine challenge was to create a card with a scene incorporating either rain or shine with a bonus of using a creepy crawlie.  This little worm from Whipper Snapper Designs was perfect for that!  *grin*  This project also follows the Fan Club Central Theme challenge.  The raindrops were "frosted" with Clear Atyou Spica then Sakura Clear Glaze pens.

SHAKE YOUR TAIL FEATHERS!

Hey there, I made this for the last VSN challenges through Splitcoaststampers and have never gotten around to posting it.  Oops!  My friend, Brenda (tessaduck), challenged us to use feathers as embellishments or if we didn't have the real deal, to use feather images or pattern paper with feathers (you get the idea...needed to have a feather!).  This super sweet image is from  Whipper Snapper Designs new release and is called Bunny with Chick.  Way too cute!  I've been really into airbrushing lately so the sky and feather were airbrushed to match.  Gotta love that, right!?!

STARS & STRIPES - DOODLEBUG

Hey there, I'm super excited that Doodlebug Design Inc. sent the Baker's Dozen their newest lines to play with!  I {heart} Doodlebug!  I'll be sharing two projects today that were made with their Stars & Stripes Essentials Kit.  If you're interested, all of Doodlebug's new lines are available in the Taylored Expressions store.  I can't wait to use this paper to make my 90 year-old father-in-law a card for Veteran's Day.  He's a disabled WWII Veteran and this paper will be perfect in helping me honor him!

I had a blast coloring Daisy Bouquet last week, so I decided to ink it up again!  It was stamped with Tuxedo Black on Neenah card stock, colored with Copic markers, fussy cut then popped up on foam.  Clear glaze was applied to the vase to make it look more like glass.  The big star is a Nestie that was ran through a Xyron then sprinkled with glitter.  The sparkles in combination with the fabulous paper really brings this card to life, don't you think?  The small scattering of stars are the Seeing Stars Taylored Die.  The rhinestones on the stars were included in the Doodlebug kit.

Here's the inside...matching paper and a few more of the die cut stars complete the card.

COPIC COLORING:
FLOWERS:  B26, B25, B23, B21, R27, R24, R22, R21, YG25, YG23, YG21, YG00, C3, C1, C00, 0  VASE:  BG72, BG70  WATER:  BG75, BG72, BG70  BUTTON:  R27

Stars & Stripes; Zig 2-Way Glue pen; SU Dimensionals; adhesive
TECHNIQUE(S):  Fussy cutting
SIZE OF FINISHED PROJECT:  5 1/4" x 5 1/4"

The second card uses more of the Doodlebug papers (did I mention how much I love Doodlebug *grin*) and the TE set called A Day in Paradise.  I just recently bought this set and couldn't wait to use it!  Like the last card, the cottage was stamped with Tuxedo Black on Neenah, colored with Copic markers then fussy cut.  Clear glaze was applied to all of the windows to make them appear like glass.  Love that stuff!  The flag pole was a strip of Neenah and the flag itself was one of the flags from the Stars & Stripes paper that was cut and glued into place after being shaped with my fingers.  I love the look of the fireworks exploding in the night sky!  Rhinestones were placed into the centers of each of the fireworks.

Here's the inside...pretty basic!

TAYLORED EXPRESSIONS MARCH STUDIO CHALLENGE

Hey there, it's time for the Baker's Dozen Studio Challenge (a monthly opportunity for the DT to share what makes our stamping studios hum...each month we're asked a fun, crafty question so we can share our favorite products, tips/tricks, stamping advice and more).

The question for March is:
You oughta be in pictures!!
We all love to share our completed projects with others on our blogs and in on-line galleries.  So, when the stamping ends, the photography begins.  This is a fun step for some, and a frustrating one for others.  How is it for you?  Tell us how you get those beautiful project photos.

I have to admit...as soon as I read the first line, I was a little nervous!  LOL!  I breathed a huge sigh of relief after I finished reading though!  **Confession Time**  (I know...so soon, right!?!)  Here it is...I honestly don't know the first thing about photography!  D'oh!  Sad, but true!  A few years back, I bought a little Canon point and click camera.  It's a Canon PowerShot SD990 IS Digital ELPH to be specific, and it's pretty much fool proof!  Like I said...point...and click!  I do have a tip though...to get those bright, bold colors, set your camera to foliage.  Don't ask me why, but the colors just look better/brighter on that setting.

I looked at buying a light box but never got around to it...mostly because I didn't really know what I should get.  Instead, I went to JoAnn Fabrics and bought a big, cushioned board (it's actual purpose is for quilting).  I also bought some white material (not sure what kind it is, but it's a little on the fuzzy side and very soft, almost like a really thick felt).  I pinned the fabric to the board and use that as my backdrop.  Lighting is easy...I use OttLites!  I originally bought the OttLites for coloring, but I've discovered they work great for taking pictures (day or night).  When I take pictures, I position my backdrop then set a light to the right, left and in front (on my lap).  A light box would probably be a lot better, but for now this works for me!

OK...my process...once I have everything set up, is to take several pictures of the front, several close up shots and several of the inside if I've decorated it and want to share it on my blog.  Once the pictures are downloaded onto my laptop, I'll go into Windows Live Photo and decide which looks better then delete the ones I don't want.  Next up is re-sizing, renaming then editing.

Sadly, I'm horrible at editing too!  *sigh*  I use Photoshop Elements 9 and I REALLY don't know the first thing about it!  My friend, Cami, taught me a little, but not nearly enough!  I've always thought about taking a class at the local community college but never have.  I know the program is capable of so much more than what I use it for!  Because I know so little about it, it can be a little frustrating!  I've got it down to a science though...when I use Photoshop, all I do is adjust the lighting, crop the picture (if needed) then add a watermark...nothing fancy...just the basics!

Well there you have it...I know I wasn't a whole lot of help, but it is what it is!  Ha!  Now onto something that I DO know something about and that's how I made this card!  I stamped Taylored Expressions Daisy Bouquet in Tuxedo Black on Neenah card stock, colored it with Copic makers, fussy cut it then popped it up on a circle Nestie that was sponged to match.  I saw this layout on a card from Kim O'Connell and fell in love with it!  I'll definitely use it again!  The sentiment is from Many Minis - Holiday and was die cut with Mini Tags.  Pattern papers from Bo Bunny and a seam binding bow/black twine bow complete the card.

Here's the inside...a little patterned paper to tie into the front.

COPIC COLORING:
FLOWERS:  BG75, BG72, BG70, Y17, Y15, Y11, Y00, YR18, YR15, YR12, YR00, YG25, YG23, YG21, YG00  VASE:  BG72, BG70  WATER:  BG75, BG72, BG70

Like I said earlier, I'm pretty sure I wasn't a whole lot of help, but I can't wait to check out the other Baker's Dozen blogs to see their set ups and maybe pick up a tip or two!

TAYLORED EXPRESSIONS STAMP OF THE MONTH DEBUT/BLOG HOP: MAKE IT MEMORABLE

Hey there, I'm excited to be taking part in the Taylored Expressions Stamp of the Month Debut!  Taylor has been super busy behind the scenes putting the finishing touches on a re-designed Key Ingredients Kit Club and debut for the new Stamp of the Month Club.  The stamp set was designed using the patterned paper for this month's KI Kit as inspiration...sooo the KI and SOTM truly are a match made in heaven!

There are three subscription options for you to choose from:

The Key Ingredients Kit Club is a clear storage case that includes a 6" x 6" paper pad, 12 sheets of card stock and 5 yards of ribbon.  The KI Kit Club can be purchased for a monthly charge of $24 in the US, $28 in Canada or $25 in other countries (which includes shipping).

The Stamp of the Month Club is exclusive to subscribers.  The stamp set will  coordinate with the patterned paper in the KI Kit Club, but they can also stand alone.  The stamps are made from deeply etched, red rubber and come on a sturdy 4" x 6" storage panel.  The SOTM Club can be purchased for a monthly charge of $20 in the US, $22 in Canada or $24 in other countries (which includes shipping).

The Deluxe Key Ingredients Club is a combination of the KI Kit Club and SOTM Club that is offered at a reduced price.  The DKI Club can be purchased for a monthly charge of $39 in the US, $45 in Canada or $53 in other countries (which includes shipping).  DKI Club subscribers will also get a 10% discount in the TE Store that lasts all month long (the discount period no longer applies and the discount is only available to DKI subscribers).  Wow...who couldn't use a perk like that!?!

Are you as excited as I am?  Taylor knocked it out of the park with the first SOTM set!  The butterfly is absolutely gorgeous as are the flowers in the set!  I love the font and who couldn't use a set that makes quick, easy cards/scrapbook pages?  And guess what...there are coordinating dies!  *eep*  If you're interested in the Make it Memorable dies, they are not part of the SOTM Club but can be purchased separately.  Are you ready to see my project?

I made a super easy set of cards using the biggest flower in the set and the birthday sentiment. I also used the card stock from the KI Kit Club...gorgeous colors that always match the patterned papers perfectly!  LOVE!

Here's the inside...each of the cards have a matching panel to the front.  The only difference is that the inside doesn't have the sentiment or the brad in the flower's center.

We're giving away a March Deluxe Key Ingredients to one lucky winner!  The winner will be chosen at random from all of the comments left on our blogs between now and Thursday evening at 9pm (PST).  The more comments you leave, the better chance you have of winning!  The winner will be announced on Taylor's blog on Friday, March 15th (my son's birthday).  Well, what are you waiting for?  Hop along to check out the rest of the fabulous inspiration and don't forget to leave comments along the way!

TAYLORED EXPRESSIONS MARCH SPOTLIGHTS: FLUTTERBYS AND OH SNAP!

Hey there, I'm back with a couple Spotlight projects for Taylored Expressions March Release.  It's funny...this is sooo not what I had in my head when I started this card, but you know what...I like how it ended up!  If only I could get just ONE decent picture!  *ugh*

I'm not so sure if this one is any better...but anyway, the solid Flutterby was die cut out of the panel and the Flutterby overlay was cut then placed inside the opening.  The entire panel and overlay was popped up on foam.  The sentiment from Posh Posies was embossed to make it pop and was cut with the Banner Stacklets 1 die.  A button and twine bow complete the card.

Here's the inside...another Flutterby overlay and coordinating paper.

My second project is a set of tags.  It's always good to have some tags on hand for decorating gift bags.  The card stock and Doodlebug paper was cut with Frame It Up 1 and Label Stacklets 3 dies.  A flower from Bugabee Flowers is a nice coordinating accent to the Flutterbys and background paper.

Well, that's it for me for this release.  Stop by the Baker's Dozen's blogs to see their Spotlight projects!
