I'm back with another Hope You Can Cling To card for the Splitcoast Stampers breast cancer card drive. Wendy's challenge, Butterflies of Hope, is about butterflies being the symbol of hope and renewal. She wants us to use a butterfly of any kind on our card: stamped, punched, paper pieced or die cut...I went with die cut.
I haven't used my brayer in a very long time so I dug it out, blew the dust off and got inking. The flower stamp from Our Craft Lounge's Oriental Garden (this set in rubber is being retired and is 40% off in the OCL online store) was inked up with VersaMark then black ink before being stamped on a round die cut. It was clear embossed, heat set then colored with Copic markers.
A VersaMarker was used to color over all the Copic coloring then clear embossed and heat set one last time. Three shades of ink were brayered onto the circle (Don't look too close or you'll see my thumb print in the ink...I did mention I haven't done it for a while. Ha!) The darkest ink was lightly sponged around the circle (Mostly to try to hide my thumb print. D'oh!) The sentiment from In Flight was stamped onto the circle and the die cut butterfly completes the card. It was die cut twice, once on card stock and the other on vellum.
Twine was wrapped around the die cut to create the body and the knot is the antenna. Glossy Accents was dabbed onto the twine to keep it from fraying. Guess that's it...I really like how this turned out. It moved into one of my favs for the breast cancer cards.
