LLLC - THANK YOU

Hey there, just popping in with this week's La-La Land Crafts challenge, Thanksgiving or Thanks.  I did a little of both by using Pilgrim Luka on a thank you card.

Luka was stamped with Tuxedo Black onto Neenah Solar White, colored with Copic markers, fussy cut then popped up on foam.  The background panel was sponged with Toffee Crunch then Peanut Brittle.  Peanut Brittle was splattered onto the panel with a paint brush, and a Sizzix die cut sentiment completes the card.

OCLDT37 - NOTHING GOLD CAN STAY

OMGosh...I'm a little late in joining the sketch challenge over at The Lounge but there is still plenty of time to grab your favorite OCL set and play along...you can even win an OCL stamp set of your choice!

As I was coloring these leaves, my mind started wandering and I thought of a Robert Frost poem that was recited in an old 80's movie you may remember...The Outsiders...with Sodapop, Ponyboy, Two-bit and the rest.

Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

How about that for a walk down memory lane?  Where were you in 1983?  Hmmm...I was a freshmen in high school.  Good times, huh?

Anyway, about the card.  The stamps are from the Shades of Fall set from OCL.  They are so easy and quick to color and I absolutely love the results!  It's a simple card so there really isn't a whole lot to say about it.  It was stamped on Neenah Solar White, colored with Copic markers and distressed with Walnut Stain.  The center leaf was cut out and popped up on a Dimensional (I used my fingers to curl the tips).  The layers are Early Espresso, the brads are Bazzill and the ribbon is from JoAnn's.  The sentiment was cut out with a Spellbinders die, distressed with Walnut Stain and popped up on a Dimensional.  Guess that's about it.

Copic coloring:

Popped leaf:  Y19, Y17, Y15, 110  Background leaves:  E55, E53,E51, G82. G40, YR16, YR14, Y17, Y15

OCLDT34 - GIVE THANKS

So far so good on the challenge I made myself...to catch up on the October challenges at OCL (details on thier blog).  For this one, I'm focusing on Thanksgiving with the Shades of Fall set.  This is my first time inking it up and it was so quick to color...totally LOVED it!  What a fun layout challenge too!

The main image was stamped on Neenah Solar White and colored with Copic markers.  I dirtied it up a bit by sponging Walnut Stain while it was still in the Spellbinders die.  The single leaf is also from the set and after it was colored, I cut it out and bent the tips up a bit then put it on a Pop Dot.  The sentiment was also distressed with Walnut Stain and I added a single, silver brad and Dimensionals.  I teamed up fall DP with, believe it or not, Halloween DP and layered everything in Basic Black.  There was just enough orange in it that I thought it might work.  I tied on a silver mesh bow and called it good.

Copic coloring:

Background leaves:  G82, G40, Y38, Y21, Y19  Popped up leaf:  YR18, YR16, YR14, 100

Thanks for stopping by!
