Hey there, I have one last VSN challenge card through Splitcoaststampers to share...THREE CHEERS FOR THE RED, WHITE AND BLUE! Kelly wanted us to create a card with the colors red, white and blue. She said it could be patriotic, but it didn't have to be. I think everyone should take pride in their country and I, for one, am proud to be an American! Remember the song, Proud to be an American, from Lee Greenwood? It's such an amazing song...here's part of it:
There's pride in every American heart
And it's time we stand and say:
I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the men who died who gave that right to me,
And I gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today,
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land God Bless the U.S.A.
It chokes me up every time! I thought Uncle Sam, from Whipper Snapper Designs, would be perfect to showcase a little American Pride! I hope you have a happy and safe 4th of July!

Hey there, I've got a quick card to share with you for my Release Day project. Don't forget, everything you've seen over the last couple of days is now available in the Fresh Out of the Oven section of the Taylored Expressions store!
If you're patriotic at heart, then Stars & Stripes with the Coordinating Die is for you! I started out by embossing the background panel with the Stars Impressions Plate. The Notepaper portion of the Notepaper & Clipboard die was used then stamped in London Fog with both the Notepaper and Grid Paper stamps. The United States were cut twice then layered. Stars from the Mini Tags have made another appearance (seriously LOVE these stars...they are the perfect size for an accent)! The awesome sentiment from Stars & Stripes finishes the card. Have you thanked a Veteran lately? I plan on giving this card to my 90 1/2 year old, WWII Veteran, father-in-law for Veteran's Day. I call him every year to thank him for his service...so this card will be perfect!

I'll be back tomorrow with one last spotlight project for the June Release. Go say hi to the Baker's Dozen and check out today's amazing projects!
Thanks for stopping by!
Hey there, are you ready for the kick off to the Taylored Expressions June Release? I've seen some of the Baker's dozen projects, and WOWSERS, you're in for a real treat! My first project uses the Graphic Greetings Patriotic stamp. It was stamped with Tuxedo Black and a single word was colored with Copic markers to create a simple pop. The edges were distressed before it was crinkled. Three stars were cut with the Mini Tags die and a sentiment from Many Minis - Holidays was stamped on a couple of them. Talk about an easy peasy card!
Check out what's available in this month's Project Pantry kit:
- Doodlebug Stars & Stripes 6x6 Paper Pad (24 double-sided sheets)
- 8 sheets of 8.5" x 11" cardstock (2 sheets each of 4 different colors)
- 5 yards of ribbon (1 yard each of 5 different styles)

OMGosh, how cool is this new Ray of Sunshine Cutting Plate? It makes super fast and totally awesome cards! So gotta love that! I ran the die through my Big Shot six times...three times in black cardstock and once each for the My Mind's Eye pattern papers to create the sunburst. A Nestie circle and the new Pinking Circles Stacklets make up the sun while the Cloud Duo dies colored with Copic markers adds that finishing touch. LOVE!

That's it for me today, don't forget to stop by tomorrow for more sneak peeks...now head on over to the Baker's Dozen blogs for some awesome eye candy!
Thanks for stopping by!
Hey there, I'm super excited that Doodlebug Design Inc. sent the Baker's Dozen their newest lines to play with! I {heart} Doodlebug! I'll be sharing two projects today that were made with their Stars & Stripes Essentials Kit. If you're interested, all of Doodlebug's new lines are available in the Taylored Expressions store. I can't wait to use this paper to make my 90 year-old father-in-law a card for Veteran's Day. He's a disabled WWII Veteran and this paper will be perfect in helping me honor him!
I had a blast coloring Daisy Bouquet last week, so I decided to ink it up again! It was stamped with Tuxedo Black on Neenah card stock, colored with Copic markers, fussy cut then popped up on foam. Clear glaze was applied to the vase to make it look more like glass. The big star is a Nestie that was ran through a Xyron then sprinkled with glitter. The sparkles in combination with the fabulous paper really brings this card to life, don't you think? The small scattering of stars are the Seeing Stars Taylored Die. The rhinestones on the stars were included in the Doodlebug kit.
Here's the inside...matching paper and a few more of the die cut stars complete the card.

The second card uses more of the Doodlebug papers (did I mention how much I love Doodlebug *grin*) and the TE set called A Day in Paradise. I just recently bought this set and couldn't wait to use it! Like the last card, the cottage was stamped with Tuxedo Black on Neenah, colored with Copic markers then fussy cut. Clear glaze was applied to all of the windows to make them appear like glass. Love that stuff! The flag pole was a strip of Neenah and the flag itself was one of the flags from the Stars & Stripes paper that was cut and glued into place after being shaped with my fingers. I love the look of the fireworks exploding in the night sky! Rhinestones were placed into the centers of each of the fireworks.
Here's the inside...pretty basic!

Hey there, it seems like it's been forever since my last post. In February I shared my MIL was diagnosed with brain cancer. She's still hanging in there...she has good days and bad. I haven't had a lot of time to craft over the last few months because I've been helping my 90-year old FIL with his bills and running errands, etc. To be honest, I haven't felt very crafty either. I'm glad to say that I made time for me and started coloring again. I can't tell you how great it feels!
Our Craft Lounge just came out with a new set called Star Spangled and I love it! This flag is so cool and it looks amazing all colored up! I sure wish you could see this one in person; it's a single layer but the coloring makes it look 3D and it pops off the page! I had fun getting inky with some Memento inks too. *grin* The sentiment on the front is from another OCL set called Patriotic Parade.
Here's the inside...I stamped one of the sentiments from Star Spangled, colored it with Copic markers and embossed a star Nestie for the frame. Love it!

Hi there stampers! I had such a great time on my last 4th of July card I thought I would try another. The other day when I was at the craft store, I noticed a lack of 4th of July products...so I figured I would have to improvise. No problem! As I was getting ready to call it good, I spotted a metal stencil that had a swirly pattern...looks like fireworks to me. Whoop whoop!
Black cardstock was taped to the stencil and ran through a Big Shot. With the paper still taped to the stencil, white craft ink was sponged on the "fireworks". After it dried, red and blue ink was applied over the white. Let Freedom Ring stamp set from Our Craft Lounge was used to stamp on Neenah. I wanted the flag to appear to be part of the box of fireworks but I wanted it to be behind the main image, so it was masked then stamped. I also wanted to go out of the box with a Nestie. You can learn how to do the technique with this tutorial on Split Coast Stampers. It's sooo cool! I stamped a second box of fireworks, cut out and colored half of the flag, one rocket and the wooden crate then popped them up on the main image (you might be able to see them better on the close-up pic...or click on either pic for a better view).
To complete the card, a blue circle mat and star Nesties were cut and layered on the card. The star was adhered directly to the card base and the blue circle mat and the main image were popped up. The small stars were cut out of glitter paper using a border punch. Guess that's about it.

Hey there bloggers! I was feeling a little patriotic today so I made my first 4th of July card. It is a simple card with a simple layout, but I think it works!
I used the Let Freedom Ring stamp set from Our Craft Lounge. I've wanted to play with this set for a while but just now got around to inking it up. All images were stamped on Neenah and colored with Copic markers. Two different embossing folders were used. Stars on the blue and the white is a tad bit different...you might recognize it as the wood grain folder by Tim Holtz. I wanted to use some sort of striped pattern and well, that was the closest thing I had without running down to the craft store. Would you have figured it out right away if I hadn't have told you?
The flag bunting was taped down at the top and popped up on the bottom with Foam Squares. Stickles were added to the white on the hat and bunting to give it a little pizazz and the hat and the star are both popped up. The sentiment was stamped on a jewelry tag punch and the ribbon is from my stash. Guess that's about it.
