DEC13VSNG - FLOATING BY...

Hey there, happy Sunday!  I'm jump-starting my day with more VSN challenge cards!  This one is for Mary's (Cr8iveME) Northern Flurry challenge.  She wants us to emboss on our projects.  The image is Floating By from Whipper Snapper Designs.  Adorable penguin, huh?

The image was stamped with Tuxedo Black onto Neenah Solar white, colored with Copic markers then fussy cut.  There is a really cute snowflake as part of the image, but I masked it and added a die cut snowflake instead (I was just too lazy to cut the other one out).  The penguin was stamped a second time on the panel, the sky was colored around him, the panel was embossed with the snow folder then the fussy cut penguin was adhered directly over the embossed panel.  The snowflake, Sparklet (snowflake center) and the banners were all colored with Copics to match the project.  The layout is an older Sweet Sunday Sketch (#155)...it was perfect for this little guy!

TAYLORED EXPRESSIONS OCTOBER STUDIO CHALLENGE

Hey there, it's time for the Baker's Dozen Studio Challenge (a monthly opportunity for the DT to share what makes our stamping studios hum...each month we're asked a fun, crafty question so we can share our favorite products, tips/tricks, stamping advice and more).

The theme for October is:
Never Felt Better!!
Felt is all the rage in crafting.  It's so thick and soft and gives that special warm and cozy feeling to fall and winter projects.  TE has 21 yummy colors to choose from, but do you ever just stare at all that felt and think, "Hmmmm...what should I do with it?"
Designers...show us a fun  project featuring felt.

I was really excited when I heard the Studio Challenge was going to be using felt.  I don't use it very often, but I sure like the way it looks!  This was my first time working with TE felt and I'm very impressed with the quality!  I ran the Split Pea felt through my Big Shot with the holly die from Very Merry Outlines, and it cut perfectly!  I had my TE metal shim on hand in case it wasn't able to cut on it's own, but I didn't even have to use it!  I made a CAS card for today's challenge because I've been super busy preparing for our Coastal Retreat.  My craft room is a HUGE disaster and I was using limited supplies.  Normally I would glue the felt into place with The Best Glue Ever or Crafter's Pick The Ultimate glue.  Each are tacky and holds really well...but like I said, limited supplies...I actually used my ATG tape gun and it held!  Gotta love that!

I wanted to take a second and congratulate Taylor and Jon for the new addition to their family...baby Charlotte is simply precious!  Have fun checking out the Baker's Dozen felt projects!

TAYLORED EXPRESSIONS SPOTLIGHT: TAG POCKET

Hey there, I've got a super quick spotlight project to share with you this morning.  I'm totally loving the new Tag Pocket and created this little gift tag holder with it.  My son won't be home for Christmas this year, so I want to send him a gift card.  I know a gift card isn't necessarily that special, but we all know it's all about the presentation...am I right?

Since it is for my son, I wanted to keep it simple.  The Tag Pocket and Snowflake Cutting Plate were both cut from red card stock.  A glittery bow, cut from the Mix & Match Bows die, and a glittery brad brings interest to the project without making it too feminine.  Tag Stacklets 1 was used to cut pattern paper for the pullout tag.  An eyelet and ribbon completes the project...I hope he likes it!

TAYLORED EXPRESSIONS OCTOBER SNEAK PEEKS: WE GIVE THANKS & COLOR BLOCK CUTTING PLATE

Hey there, that was an awesome first day of peeks!  I can't wait to see what the Baker's Dozen has up their sleeves for today!  Don't forget, everything you've seen over the last couple of days will be available in the Taylored Expressions store, starting tomorrow, at 7am PST.  I just love fall...the colors are amazing and I never get tired of the crispness in the air as the leaves change colors before they tumble to the ground!

This gorgeous cornucopia, from We Give Thanks, was stamped with Tuxedo Black onto white card stock, colored with Copic markers then cut using the out-of-the-box technique.  Check out that little acorn die cut...love it!  It was cut with Falling for You and was a lot of fun to color!  A stylus/soft mat was used to shape it before it was popped up on foam.  Truly the perfect embellishment, along with the burlap banner, for this fall beauty!

This next card uses the adorable Christmas Doodles stamp set.  There are tons of super cute images with this set!  The best part...they color up fast!  That's definitely a plus when designing your Christmas cards!  The images were stamped with Tuxedo Black onto while card stock then colored with Copic markers.  It doesn't get any easier than this!

Do you like the layout?  It was easy with the help of Taylor's new Color Block Cutting Plate!  Seriously, there are so many possibilities with this cutting plate!  You can use the frame like I did...or use the frame and mat the images or you could just use the rectangles and scallops on their own.  Love this idea!
