TAYLORED EXPRESSIONS MARCH RELEASE DAY: OPEN SCALLOP BORDER

Hey there, congrats to the winners from last night's Preview Party (woohoo, Brenda...way to go!).  Today is Release Day and you know what that means...the March release is available in the Fresh Out of the Oven section of the Taylored Expressions store.  It's an amazing release, so happy shopping!

Today's project uses the new Open Scallop Border die and the Graphic Greetings Thankful A La Carte stamp.  I think this may be my favorite ALC so far.  The fonts are awesome and make for a quick and easy thank you card...gotta love that!  It was stamped on Neenah Solar White then the flower was colored with Copic markers.  I've really been into airbrushing lately so I airbrushed the entire panel.  It was quick, easy and a lot of fun!  I'm sooo in love with Doodlebug!  *swoon*  The bright, cheerful paper from their Fruit Stand collection just makes me happy!  A button and rhinestones complete the card.

TAYLORED EXPRESSIONS MARCH SNEAK PEEK: OH SNAP!

Hey there, the Baker's Dozen has been busy whipping up some yummy eye candy for you this week!  If you have time, stop by at 6pm (PST) tonight for the Preview Party.  You will be able to see the March release in it's entirety and possibly score on some awesome giveaways!  You won't want to miss it!  The release will be available starting tomorrow in the Fresh Out of the Oven section of the Taylored Expressions store.

My sneak peek for today features the new stamp set called Oh Snap!  It's an awesome set that's super fun to color!  The camera was stamped on Neenah card stock, colored with Copic markers, fussy cut then adhered to a piece of black card stock that was cut with the coordinating Oh Snap Cameras die.  I really like the way the black frame makes the image pop!  The Film Strip Border die was cut in black and white then pieced together.  The fabulous new Banner Stacklets 2 (LOVE!) dies were used to create the background, and the Nesties were cut then airbrushed to match the camera.

TAYLORED EXPRESSIONS MARCH SNEAK PEEK - FROM MY WINDOW

Hey there, today is the kick off for the TE March release!  Are you excited?  All of the products you see over the next few days will be available in the Fresh Out of the Oven section of the Taylored Expressions store.  To get things started, I'm going to give you a sneak peek of the From My Window stamp set and the Arched Window die.  Love, love, love this window die and all the different scenes you can create with it!

It was a lot of fun creating this cozy little home!  I found the perfect "wallpaper" and decided to do a little wainscoting on the lower half of the wall.  It was embarrassingly easy but looks awesome on the finished card!  I used a Scor-Pal to create the lines every 1/4 inch then used a horizontal strip to complete it.  The one thing I did to kind of set it off, was to use a couple Copic markers to add in some light shading.  That little bit of shading just makes the whole thing pop!  Ok...confession time!  My stamping room is a huge (and I mean huge) disaster!  I know I had some acrylic sheets that would have been perfect for the glass in the window, but I couldn't find any of it.  *sigh*  I just HAD to have glass in my window...so I looked around and guess what I used...um, er, well...I dove in my trash and recovered the packaging from the stamp sets.  Yikes!  I keep my stamps in Binder Boxes so I don't have a use for the packaging and they end up getting tossed.  They sure came in handy for this project though!  *grin*

TAYLORED EXPRESSIONS FEBRUARY STUDIO CHALLENGE

Hey there, it's time for the Baker's Dozen Studio Challenge (a monthly opportunity for the DT to share what makes our stamping studios hum...each month we're asked a fun, crafty question so we can share our favorite products, tips/tricks, stamping advice and more).

The question for February is:

Recipe for success!  When you sit down to create a card just for fun, for the pure joy of stamping, without any type of assignment or deadline, what steps do you usually take?  Tell us how you get started and take us along on your creative journey.

You know, this is a great question...not so easy to answer...but still a great question!  I guess typically, I like to start with an idea.  Sometimes, if I'm lucky, the image of a finished card pops into my head and I get it on paper before I forget.  Those cards are always the easiest for me!  If I'm just in the mood for coloring, I'll choose a stamp set and the paper that I plan on using (so I have something to match my Copic colors to) then complete the card later.  If I'm working on a project start to finish, I usually choose my stamps, layout, paper then Copic colors.  See what I mean?  Not so easy to answer because there are so many different scenarios!

Take this card, for instance.  I just bought the super cute Hello Spring stamp set from Taylored Expressions.  I'm a sucker for super cute images that lets me do what I love...color!  So I've got my stamps and I have a layout in mind already...now for the paper.  I'm currently IN LOVE with the My Mind's Eye Collectable collection!  Right now, the question isn't what paper am I going to choose...it's how in the heck am I going to narrow it down!?!  Well that's not so tough once I start thinking about the colors in the stamp.  I know I want to find a paper that has orange (carrot), green (also the carrot) and yellow (chick).  Once I have the perfect paper, I can start my Copic selection.  To do that, I grab my handy dandy Copic Marker chart and put it next to the paper.  I usually try to find three or more colors that would blend well together, then on a piece of scrap Neenah, I'll try them out.  I'll hold my blended colors up to the pattern paper to see if it's a match.  If it is, I start coloring, but if it isn't, it's back to the drawing board until I can find something I like.
