Hey there, it's time for the Baker's Dozen Studio Challenge (a monthly opportunity for the DT to share what makes our stamping studios hum...each month we're asked a fun, crafty question so we can share our favorite products, tips/tricks, stamping advice and more).
The question for June is:
What's on your summer reading list? Are you a big reader or not? If you are, what books have you read lately that you would recommend? Do you have a favorite author or genre? How about something for sitting out by the pool, or the beach or even just the backyard...some nice light summer reading?
Do you use fancy bookmarks or do you dog-ear your pages? Or do you use an e-reader? Everyone can use bookmarks, and they make great favors and gifts. Let's see a little inspiration!
Hmmm...summer reading list? Nah! I'm not much of a reader. It isn't that I can't read...it's that I don't have time (especially in the summer)! We do a lot of camping during the summer and we always have friends/family around to visit with. When I'm at home, I spend my free time stamping. So, nope, not much of a reader. I have a sister that reads tons though (she totally makes up for me. Ha!). She'll be camping with hubby and I over the 4th of July, so I'll send one of these home with her. I'll keep one for myself and throw away the scrap of torn paper I usually use as a bookmark (when I do decide to pick up a book) and I'll give the other two to a couple of my friends.
These were so quick and fun to make! Each was cut twice...once in black card stock and the other in Neenah Solar White. The white bookmark was sponged with two different inks then stamped using the Make it Amazing stamp set. It was adhered to the black for a little extra stability before the ribbon/twine was added. What do you use to cut your ribbon? We (my buddies at my LSS) found this awesome gadget at the Winter CHA from Imaginisce. It was definitely a must have for us and I absolutely love it! It's a battery operated ribbon cutter/sealer, so you know what that means...no more frayed ends! The battery heats up a metal wire that cuts/seals the ends of the ribbon at the same time. It also has a really cool grid for cutting perfectly straight and/or diagonal lines every time! A Flutterby was added to the bottom of each.
